HAT GP – Short Duathlon (race report by Ray Powell)
Another great turnout and some fantastic performances this morning.
Well done to Andrew Robinson for smashing all three legs and setting a new course record. A great second place for Jon Salisbury and a very creditable bronze to Bradley Burke despite going wrong on the bike. In the ladies event it was the Frosty all over again with Michelle Peckham taking line honours from Martine Burke. Good to see the broken collarbone contingent Tony Harris and Kirsten King back out racing too. An especial thanks to Alison O’Neill for taking the times – wouldnt have had a race without you.
Due to roadworks we had to put in a couple of fixes on the bike course (1) cutting through College Road as Church Lane was closed at the Cock Inn and (2) diverting off the A272 up Shipley Road to avoid the temp traffic lights just coming back in to Southwater from the A24. Everybody liked to Shipley Road option rather than going up the A24 so we’ll do this next time as well. Only about a mile shorter.
So after two races its Jon and Bradley leading for the men and Michelle and Martine leading it for the ladies. Next race is the Steyning Sprint Tri on 30 April.
